Final Reflection: English Composition IV

I. Benefit
1. How do you think your English writing skills have improved after completing this Wix e-portfolio? (You can talk about your improvement in these aspects: vocabulary, grammar, writing skills, motivation and confidence in writing, and interaction with peers.)
To be honest, for me, completing this Wix e-portfolio does not improve my English writing skills much. I only have learned how to make a great visual design and how to create my own website from Wix e-portfolio, not how to write a good English composition.
2. What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for the final essay drafts?
It is quite good to have an individual portfolio to preserve our final drafts. Everyone can understand my perspectives towards some specific issues. In addition, I really enjoy reading other classmates’ works because we can share our different views towards current affairs. As a result, I think creating the Wix e-portfolio for the final essay drafts is a great way to make us know each other.
3. What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for journal writing and commenting?
It is difficult for me to write an over 300 words journal. If I want to share my life on the social media like Facebook or Instagram, I will prefer to post some picture and write few sentences to express my feelings. Therefore, writing journal on Wix really puzzles me. However, reading and replying a comment from NCUE is interesting because it is just like making a new friend.
4. Do you think that journal writing should be conducted in the same way as essay writing (i.e., Draft 1, peer review, Draft 2, conferencing, and Draft 3 on Wix)? Why or why not?
Why should we do that!? I think we have had “just right” homework to do. Throwing this idea away can make us have more time to catch up on sleep.
5. What did you benefit from TA feedback after you posted each final essay draft and journal on your Wix e-portfolio? (TA feedback was presented via Excel file and PPT slides).
Here I want to thank our TA, Linda first because she really helps me a lot on solving technique problems. Sometimes, my works were not published completely on Wix. Then, TA would notice that my Wix e-portfolio may encounter some technique problems and notified me via Excel file in a short time. Those feedbacks let me be able to revise the problems immediately. Consequently, I consider that we have a hard-working TA.
6. What did you benefit from conducting self-assessment and peer-assessment of the Wix e-portfolio in the second semester?
Self-assessment and peer-assessment let me know my lack of visual design. In addition, since I am not a hard-working student, self-assessment and peer-assessment make me willing to make an effort on designing the website.
7. How did this Wix e-portfolio enhance your skills other than writing?
It enhances my digital aesthetics a lot. The most importantly, I am not a technobimbo anymore!!!
8. Overall, what did you benefit from creating and managing this Wix e-portfolio? How is it different from uploading your assignments on ecourse2?
As I mentioned before, having an individual portfolio is great. Besides, viewing other peers’ works is a great way to make us know each other. Managing a Wix e-portfolio can acquire some abilities which is not really related to English Composition like visual design and technology application. Those benefits are also the differences between creating e-portfolio and uploading your assignments on ecourse2. By the way, the former spends more time than the latter.
II. Challenges
1. What difficulties have you encountered in terms of creating and editing your Wix e-portfolio over these two semesters?
The main problem is that I was not good at creating a website. I remembered that I wasted lot of time on my first post. The other problem is the emotional problem. I have spent lots of time revising my drafts, but I have to spend an extra time editing my Wix e-portfolio. If I have not finished assignments form other courses on that day, I will be in a bad mood when I make the Wix post.
2. Among all the difficulties mentioned above, what was the most challenging one? How did you handle this challenge?
Solving the technique problems is easy because I can ask TA and classmates the solutions. However, the emotional problem is really challenging because no matter how I hate these assignments, I still have to submit them. As a result, to handle this problem, I stay up late to finish the assignments as soon as possible. If I can go to bed earlier, I will be happy.
3. Will you continue to use or write posts on this Wix e-portfolio in the future? Why or why not?
I am not sure. Because operating systems of social media like Facebook and Instagram are more friendly to me, I prefer writing posts on social media to using Wix e-portfolio.
